About the Event

What is Remedy?
Remedy is a five day leadership training conference that is designed to equip college students and college aged individuals in various ministry skills so they can take back what they learn to their local college campuses. But Remedy is much more than just ministry training.
This is a time to get away and learn more about God’s heart. A time to be encouraged, explore difficult topics and questions regarding faith and spirituality, be surrounded by a loving community of people, and have the wounds of your heart treated.
Direction: Finding Our Way to Walking With God
How much longer will you follow that old roadmap? We all have one. Some of us were given the map by our parents, some of us took a copy from our friends, some of us have drawn the map for ourselves based on a dream or some expectation of a certain future. The maps took us from high school to college, and now we’re counting on them to bring us from college into careers, fulfilling hobbies and strong relationships.
But our maps are incomplete. When we first got them they showed a clear straight path from point A to point B to point C. But our life experiences, circumstances, broken relationships, global pandemics, and our own insecurities have taken us far off track, and we’re still trying to find our way back to the path marked on our map.
But what if Jesus was inviting you to toss the map aside. What if he never intended us to travel in a straight line from here to there. What if instead of a map that brought us through the checklist of “the American dream”, he had an epic journey of discovery to take us on. Or maybe he wants to check out one of those crazy road-side tourist traps. Or maybe he just wants to hike through the hills for a few months and enjoy all that nature has to offer.

- Electives -
Attendees will choose one elective for each day. Electives run for an hour and fifteen minutes and address a variety of ministry and life topics.
Self Guided Nature Elective
Let’s go explore scripture and creation! This will be a self guided elective where you’ll have the opportunity to reflectively go into nature while at the same time have a questions to think about and scripture to reflect on. Take a moment away from everything else and just stand in awe of God’s good creation!
Prayer
Communicating with God, the Creator of all things, the Master of the universe! Why do we pray? What does that look like in your life? What does Scripture say about it? How do we approach the throne? Let’s talk about it, pray together, and explore these things with each other!
Forget You!
Where do you get your self-esteem? Do you care more about others’ opinions of you or your own opinion? In this elective, we will figure out whose opinions matter the most and begin to develop a healthier view of ourselves.
Oh? You’re Approaching Me?
Are you looking for community? Well I’ve got good news for you! Finding a good healthy Christian community is easier than you think. Join us as we explore this topic.
Saved Through Water (Baptism, Noah’s Ark, and Peter)
Exploring the connection between Baptism, Noah’s Ark and the significance of Peter being the one who made this connection for us in scripture.
Temptation, the World, and Jesus’ Words
Temptation is everywhere. It lives on the internet, our imaginations, our culture and in our heads. It is a million dollar industry and the world is always trying to profit off your vulnerability. How can we fight something so strong and demanding? Does Jesus reject us if I have impure habits? Why should I even bother? We can answer these questions together.
Where’s my Mansion: Is Heaven really what you think it is?
A Mansion on the main street of Gold. A never ending worship service. A place where we can fly like Superman and ask God all those questions we never got good answers to. Is that really what God was inviting us to? What is Heaven really going to be like? Is Heaven where we’re going to spend eternity? What does the word Heaven in scripture even mean? Let’s talk about what the Bible really says about where all of human history is taking us as individuals and as the family of God.
Psalm 23 and Me
Psalm 23 is a favorite Scripture passage for many people. But what does it truly mean for us to have God as our Shepherd? If you lack experience with sheep, but still want to understand the deeper meaning of this psalm, this elective is for you! We will be using the book “A Shepherd Looks at Psalm 23” to learn some fun facts, dig deep into the metaphors of this passage, and get a better understanding of the abundant life it describes.
The Holy Land
Why is Israel called the Holy Land? Christians call it that because it’s where Jesus spent his life and had his ministry. Muslims call it that because the Dome of the Rock is there, one of the meccas for the Muslim faith. The Jews call it that because that’s where their Temple was and that’s where they want it to be rebuilt. What a fascinating place. Tom and Cindy were there in January of 2023 and would love to share with you how fascinating it really is!
Is He Talking to Me?
Paul’s letters make up a large part of the New Testament, but who was that guy and does what he said affect us today? Generations of Christians have sought to understand the complexities of law and grace, the gospel and sin, life and death, and there are still disagreements. Do these letters to the early churches guide us through important questions of faith or is what he wrote a bit more complicated?
The Crescent and the Cross: An Exploration of Islam and Christianity
There are huge differences between Islam and Christianity…as well as many similarities. This elective will explore the fundamentals (5 pillars) of Islam, how they compare to following Jesus, and help you understand the culture and mindset of Muslims as well as some effective ways to connect with them.
Bringing Peace to a Contentious World
In Matt. 5:9 Jesus says, “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.” This elective will consider what it means to be a peacemaker and how we can step into this role in a broken and contentious world.
